Junior Development Meeting, Thursday 12th August, Pike & Eel, 7.30 pm

Present: Liv (chair), Rick (minutes), Steve, Elaine (Mayfield). Apologies: Simon, Sam.

  1. Club School Link (CSL)

There has been a lot of communication between Liv, Frank Sieber and Lee M.

Liv arranged CSL after speaking to Frank who told her the BKA were not interested in organising it and that nowadays only Oxford and Cambridge were interested.

He now denies agreeing to fund it (£80 per week per coach) and is reluctant to pay

after Liv arranged it directly with KNKV, Holland. The BKA in future want local coaches to take over CSL for one week.

Elaine said it had been very popular at Mayfield and wondered whether schools could help to finance it instead (eg £10).

> Liv to sound out schools about financing CSL from now on.

The committee thanked Liv and Reda (transportation) for the success of CSL this year.

  1. Under-14s/Adults

There has been a lot of communication between Liv, the BKA and Lee M.

Liv received the official policy from the BKA Chairman and General Secretary that                 juniors have to be 14 to play with adults. However Frank S. admitted that under-14s were allowed to play with adults in Kent and London (with all appropriate forms etc) if they were deemed good enough and if there were no other local teams for them to play in.

>Liv to propose at the next CKA meeting a rule for Cambridgeshire: the junior has to be 14 but with the possibility of an appeal.

  1. Junior League

It is hoped that a junior league (primary schools) can be set up this coming season e.g. Mayfield, Fawcett, St. Johns, Histon, Knights. It was hoped that maybe secondary school teachers could organise something similar.

> Liv to send Steve a contact list

> Steve to contact primary school teachers with a questionnaire regarding: how often (once or twice a term?), when (after school or weekends?), how old (under-9s and under-11s or mixed?), format (mini-tournament?).

Elaine put in a plea for help with coaching at Mayfield (Tuesdays, outside, 3.30 +).

  1. A.O.B.

Rick reported that City had not succeeded in moving to Chesterton but that Simon still intended to start junior training there in the old sports hall, e.g. Tuesdays, 5.30 pm

Liv announced that she was going to resign as the CKA Child Protection Officer. (Sam Tucker to be approached?).

Liv has her Korfball Handbook available for purchase.

Next meeting: tba.
