Minutes of last meeting approved.

Sam still needs clubs to fill in and return child protection forms a.s.a.p. – see last meeting’s minutes.

Secretary post still vacant.

Treasurer’s report – No report. Ian to contact Mike to ask for accounts if Mike unable to attend meetings.

Fixture Officer’s report, Howard

Knights declined Phoenix’s offer to replay the Phoenix 4 vs Knights 1 match that was abandoned at half time. Knights will take the walkover (5-0).

Results Officer’s report, Nick

Lions 2 vs City 2 - City fielded an illegal team by bringing on a 3rd player named in the 1st team bottom 4 squad as a substitute. The result will be a walkover (5-0) to Lions 2. Rick apologised to Lions for the mistake.

Some scorecards have gone missing. It’s important that referees send scorecards by post to Nick as soon as possible after the game. This is preferable to attempting to pass scorecards by hand to Nick, often via other people, which can lead to scorecards arriving late or not at all.

Child Protection Officer’s report, Lee for Sam

Sam still needs clubs to fill in and return child protection forms a.s.a.p.. Action from last meeting - see above and last meeting’s minutes.

Junior Development Officer’s report, Liv

Schools project is going ahead in the next few weeks - starting this week. There are 8 schools participating  - they will each receive 3 hours of coaching from the CKA (Janine Collier, Reda Ibn-Tahaikt and Simon Jackson). There will be a tournament on the 16th March from 1 pm until 3.30 pm.  If anyone can help at any of these sessions I would be grateful - but will be contacting individuals who have already offered.

After this project there will be a Citysport course held at Perse for the U11 age group - hopefully coached by Sijbren Otto. This will be four weeks of coaching from 5-6 pm on Sundays. The hope from this is that there will then be regular games for a newly formed team to play.

The City council will be purchasing 4 collapsible posts and balls for themselves which is a good sign of their commitment to korfball.

Senior Development/Coaching Officer’s report, Scott

Scott is looking to set up a new club in Cambridge, this September.

Press and Publicity Officer’s report, Rick

Press Reports: 4 articles in the Cambridge Evening News on Knights Juniors (U15s), National and Cambridge league match reports, results and fixtures and Lia (Korfball World Youth Cup). Nick and Alice Kempski headline. 1 article in BKA magazine on Cambridge Korfball.

1)      CKA tournament

Date for Cambridge tournament is Saturday 23rd July.

Ian to find and book a venue. Littleport is not available. Suggestions are Histon Football ground – korfball event as part of Histon Sports Festival last year, Chesterton and Netherhall – last year’s venue. The Perse will only allow 1 outdoor korfball tournament this year, which may be a junior tournament.

2)      AOB

Howard

Phoenix are organising the Citysport course this year. It will be held after the season finishes, in May and early June. Sessions will hopefully be 90 minutes, probably on Thursdays. Knights or the new club (Scott) will probably be invited to participate to recruit any new players to their clubs.

Scott

Scott it organising a Level 1 Coaching course on Saturday 7th May. There are 3 places available for anyone who wants to learn how to teach the course.

Graham Crafter has sent a copy of the playing rules DVD to Ian. Situation about copying and payment for DVD unclear. Lee to talk to Graham to clarify things.

Reda

Knights Juniors (U15s) have qualified for the National Championships Final on Sunday April 10th, venue TBC. See BKA magazine.

U23 Championships will be held in Cambridge this year on Saturday/Sunday 16th/17th April. Cambridge will have a team there. Help is needed by the BKA to run things on the day. Reda to contact clubs about jobs that need doing. A public address system is needed. Any offers please contact Reda.

Knights juniors are getting new kit – a navy blue home strip and a white away strip. Knights seniors will still play in white and black. Suggested that clubs seek approval from CKA before buying kit in new colours to avoid future problems with teams turning out to play in similar colours.

Lee

Congratulations to Uni on their Varsity match successes.

3) Date and time of next meeting

Sunday 20th March 7.30 pm at the Penny Ferry (Pike and Eel), Chesterton
