APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF 2012 AGM

Approved.

CHAIRMAN: ACTIONS?

The CKA has now been in existence for 20 years ! Thanks to all the committee members for all their efforts over the last year. Thanks also for the good attendance at committee meetings. I would particularly like to thank Nick Armitage, who has been results officer for 14 years and Adam Twiss who has been the fixtures officer for over 5 years.

SECRETARY :

Nothing to report.

TREASURER:

Accounts attached.

FIXTURES (vacant):

RESULTS:

All the CKA league scorecards were eventually tracked down and are present and correct on the website.

There are a number of SERL matches that were not submitted this year.

But given that these are all entered on Fixtures Live for results on that website, I'm not going to bother chasing them.

There were no reffing issues that I can recall this season - with no low scores being sent on the scorecard.

So either teams are better behaved OR refs are being more lenient - discuss...

It just leaves me to hand over the Results Officer role to the next person as I'm standing down after 14 years in the role.

SENIOR DEVELOPMENT:

Ran coaching day with Dave Buckland. Frustration at lack of response from clubs about development sub-committee.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT:

See attached.

REFEREEING:

Exam and practical assessments have been carried out for clubs as requested this season.

Clubs should note that with an increased number of SERL fixtures this season demands upon higher qualified referees will be greater than ever.

For many clubs their refs also hold prominent positions and a concerted effort should be made to encourage more referees to come forward.

As always my door is open to assist where possible

COACHING (vacant):

PUBLICITY (vacant):

CPO:

There have been no Child Protection incidents to report this year. The EKA is in the process of updating the Child Protection Policy which will make it more straightforward to know who will need updated new Barring checks as CRB checks will not exist in their current form. We will need to ensure we are up to date and following the new guidelines, it may be that we will need to invest in some training in the future.

CKA junior awards removed from plan. Dates will be removed.

4. 2013/14 REGIONAL LEGAUE

The CKA agreed to form a regional league with the Kent Korfball Association (KKA) , Norfolk Korfball Association (NKA) and the South Midlands Korfball Association (SMKA) again for the 20013/14 season.

5. BUDGET AND LEAGUE ENTRY FEES

See attached accounts.

Lions requested funds to help support their club. They would like to replace broken plastic baskets (~£100). They have broken aluminium posts, which Howard offered to repair. They would also like to do leaflet drops and free taster sessions (~£90).

It was agreed to put £400 in the budget to support existing clubs in exceptional circumstances.

Liv requested to carry over unspent junior development budget (£588), to add the profit from this year's National Youth Day (£577), which is not yet shown in the accounts, and additional budget this year of £400. £1600 in total was agreed for the junior development budget. The money will be used to buy equipment for schools (~£1400) and coaching fees (~£200). The CKA will cover any losses on junior sessions, which aim to break even.

League fees will remain the same as last season.

6. CHANGE TO THE CONSTITUTION

9.2.The ordinary business of the A.G.M. shall be:
{i) to receive proposals for alterations and/or additions to the Cambridgeshire Korfball League rules, and to vote thereon}
{added text}

Change agreed.

7. CHANGE TO THE CAMBRIDGESHIRE KORFBALL LEAGUE (CKL) RULES

4.2 Misconduct
4.2.1 Following a yellow or red card being issued in a match,
[BKA] {English Korfball Association(EKA)} guidelines for all disciplinary matters will be followed.
4.1.1 All players should be registered with the
[BKA] {English Korfball Association(EKA)} as soon as possible after starting to play in the Cambridge Indoor Korfball League.
4.1.7 A player who holds a
[BKA] {English Korfball Association(EKA)} registration with a club not affiliated to the CKA or an affiliation with a club belonging to any other national korfball association recognised by the International Korfball Federation, and who does not hold a registration with a club affiliated to the CKA,may not play in the CKA league.

{added text}

Change agreed.

8. CLARIFICATION OF THE CKL RULES

4.1 Team Composition
{4.1.11.5 Player status rules do not apply to either team in a match involving a development team. However, all junior (under 18) players must still be approved by the CKA.}
{added text}

Clarification agreed.

9. CHANGE TO THE CKL RULES

See below.

After some discussion of possible changes to the proposal, the proposal was withdrawn as clubs needed to consult on the revisions. The proposal will be amended for presentation at an EGM before the start of the season.

Suggested changes:

  • 6 2nd team status players

  • clubs decide between players on equal status points

  • only 1st team status points considered to determine 1st team status, then 1st and 2nd team status points for 2nd team status

10. CHANGE TO THE CKL RULES

4.3 Rules
{4.3.6 A substituted player is not allowed to return to the game (Option B in the IKF Playing rules of 1st September 2013.}
{added text}

Change agreed, which means substitution rules stay the same as last season.

Summary of Activity

U13 Academy

8 U13 Academy sessions throughout the year. 5 x 2 hours and 3 x 1 hour sessions. 2 hours worked well and will be continued.

Coach – ChrisWest

Admin – Debbie Howe

Tournaments

5 CKA Tournaments including 1 x U9, 2 x U11, 1 x all ages, 1 x U14 triangular with Norwich and Harrow.

Indoor Inter area – (more expensive so subsidised) 2 x U11, 2 x U14, 1 x U19

Outdoor Inter-area competitions 1 x U11, 1 x U14, 1 x U16).

National Youth Day

17 teams entered from the CKA (10 Club, 7 school). Best attendance in a long time and also best number of volunteers by clubs. Thank you!

Schools

Lost Willingham school team due to Julie Allen resigning. This may possibly get picked up by Ant Brolia to make a link school for Vikings.

Queen Edith – going strong. Numbers have almost doubled since last year. Possibly a link school for a Phoenix juniors set up.

Milton Road – need more korfballs. Still going strong. 65 children engaged in their school clubs.

Possible school club starting for year 7/8 in Swavesey Village College. Posts and balls currently borrowed from CTKC. I did some work with them inMay and June.

Rachel Camina did a day of coaching at St Matthew’s primary school (she does this annually) including taking part in their summer extravaganza after school.

Chris White did a demo at Stapleford primary school – posts borrowed from City.

If anyone teaches or helps in a school and would like to teach korfball, please get in touch. Clubs are strongly advised to let teachers who teach korfball in their school train for free.

Planned Activity and Proposals for 2013/2014

I plan to hold a planning meeting shortly to discuss and plan for some of the following ideas. Anybody who would be interested in coming along and sharing ideas to make any of the below happen, please get in touch.

Definite commitments

1. U13 Academy to continue monthly for 2 hour booking.

2. Minimum of 1 general tournament per term. Aim for 2.

3. Encourage inter-school matches between Queen Edith and Milton Road

4. Use budget to supply more equipment to schools (now there is a decent amount of money)

5. U16/U19 combined session to run for 2 hour session monthly to build a stronger squad mentality and provide extra intensive coaching to develop the players skills. U19 coach to be sought. Budget will be needed to fund this coaching potentially – 8 x £25 = £200

Plans

1. Use budget to fund a korfball festival for schools – to liaise with SSCO in Cambridge (in proposal stage, details not thought through)

2. Refereeing Officer to organise referees for events such as inter area and CKA tournaments (this will require better communication from Junior Dev Officer)

3. I would like to move toward a league structure for U9 and U11 teams in Cambridge.

Probably using games in these tournaments to provide the league games.

4. I would like to set up a National League for U13 age group. This would be run as triangular tournaments or multi game venues in Cambridge. I would aim to cover costs and not use any budget to make this happen.

5. Support a possible new junior club for Phoenix.

*General aim – I would like more people in Cambridge to get involved in the coaching,

promotion and development of Korfball. Any club members who would like to get involved – whether it is discussing ideas, coaching or learning how to coach, refereeing at events, taking on the organisation of an event, making events more successful…. Anything you can offer would be welcomed.

Concerns

Ely Vikings juniors numbers are dwindling. I would like to support them in reviving the junior set up. I have offered to try and help provide assistance, but was informed I was not required at this time. I am still keen to help in any way that I can.

Thank you

I need to thank everyone in Cambridgeshire who works hard to make juniors happen. Massive

thanks go to Rachel Camina from City who is my right hand woman and keeps me on task. Junior

Korfball is much stronger in CKA these days because of the collaborative effort between clubs.

9. Proposed change to the CKL rules

4.1.2.2 Player restrictions for the first status period of the season are based upon the last [6] {5} matches of the previous season.
4.1.2.3 Player status is calculated over the last
[6] {5} 1st and 2nd team matches. This may mean some matches are included in more than one status period.
4.1.2.4 Each player is only considered to have played in a whole match if they were on the pitch for the whole match.
4.1.2.5
[Each player is considered to have played in half a match if they were on the pitch for half or more of the match, but less than the whole match. A player substituted on in the first half and then substituted off in the second half will have to include that half match in their status profile. A player substituted off before the end of the first half or substituted on after the start of the second half will not have to include that match in their status profile.] {A player is given 2 status points for every quarter of a first team match played, and 1 status point for every quarter of a second team match played.  Therefore a player can get a maximum of 8 status points for playing a full first team match, or a maximum of 4 status points for playing a full second team match.}
