ACTING CHAIRMAN: Howard Laffling ACTIONS arising from last meeting |
||||
Ian Birch-Machin has passed on the CKA papers to Howard for safe-keeping. There is a need to improve attendance at CKA meetings, especially from people who expect CKA support (eg NL) Howard proposed bringing forward the AGM to late June/early July to allow more time before the start of the season and to allow any new status rules to be digested before clubs decide how many teams to enter into the league.
The committee agreed that a letter should be sent to the BKA about Lee’s (paid) junior co-ordinator role.
|
Howard to send a reminder.
All agreed.
Howard to draft the letter. |
|||
TREASURER: ACTIONS? |
||||
Corinne provided the monthly report: Reda still owes 7 pounds. Everything else is up to date.
Rick reminded the committee about the forthcoming Avon Tyrell sponsorship for Antony Proietti.
Corinne enquired about the CKA payments to the BKA. (This is usually done at their AGM).

were agreed; clarification is required of exactly how games are to be counted i.e. matches started or subbed ( part matches: is this as per the ¼, ½ , ¾, 1 statistics as Nick A already does?) Howard/Phnx commented that the player status at the start of the season ought to take account of last season in order to fulfil the ‘apply fairly and equally.. for all matches’ rule. The ‘old’ rules took some account of last season but not full account, which was one of their weaknesses. Clarification of the ‘between 0 and 16’ in the team composition rules section was requested. The possible extension was not thought necessary.
“ to ensure players don’t play for one NL team and a different local team|” was supported
3. CKA summer tournament (Sat July 15th): Venue: Netherhall was proposed Fees: 30 pounds and 24 pounds (Cambs teams) Publicity: already on website/korfballnet. Emails and flyers at other tournaments
Posts/pitches (not spiked bases): Netherhall may mark out some pitches. Otherwise from Perse and Chesterton
Fixtures / Results (CKA Gazebo will have been bought)
Catering: having outside caterers was suggested.
Social: to be decided.
Trophies : at a cost of c. 20 pounds
Other AOB: Lee asked about the Third Division Cup.
Lee will borrow the CKA tapes for Littleport Tournament and will buy 2 more tapes and a reel.
Reda declared the success of Tigers (2) in the BKA final on Sunday 7th v Bearsted (won 8-7) This represents the culmination of many years hard work and dedication starting with Liz Jones at Newnham Croft and ending with Reda at Tigers.
Reda asked Phoenix to make an attempt to get a junior section.
Thro’ Rick, Simon Jackson requested that other coaches ask for permission if they want to “borrow” juniors for their teams.
Rick mentioned that 18 juniors had attended City’s first junior training at Chesterton session on Sunday 7th. Congrats to Simon Jackson and Sue Carr for their hard work.
Rick enquired about City Sport at Tigers: there were no takers.
Howard proposed a sincere vote of thanks to Ian for his years of service as CKA chairman. |
Attached.
Alex to draft a specific text for inclusion in the league rules for a proposal at the AGM
Nick C. to draft a pro-posal for circulation one week before the next CKA meeting. Reda to contact N/hall. Howard to do flyers & emails Lee will have tapes at L/port.
Howard will do.
Liv may have a Fair Trade contact. Lee will deal with.
Reda to pass cup on.
Reda will send report to Rick |

NATIONAL LEAGUE
In the National League Division One, Cambridge City finished runners up for the 2nd year running.
And despite a valiant attempt, they lost the play off match against Nomads and will stay in Division One next season.
Congratulations and thanks go to Janine Collier in her first year in charge of the National League team.
Note, next season, Cambridge Tigers have successfully entered a team into Division One so there will be two teams from Cambridge competing side by side next year (as well as two teams from Norwich).
HOT OFF THE PRESS
Cambridge Tigers are the National Under 16 Champions of Great Britain!!!
In a close match played in Croydon yesterday, the “Tiggers” beat Bearsted 8-7 in a thrilling match to claim the national title for the first time ever.
Congratulations to the youngsters and to their coach, Reda.

Status Rules Criteria
The aim of status rules is to restrict players playing down into lower teams in order to influence match results and thus the outcome of the league divisions.
The criteria for any status rules are :-
Status Rules Proposal
Background
These proposed status rules are based on the former status rules that were replaced by the squad list rules, with come important modifications so that they meet the above criteria.
The former rules used matches played as the basis for mathematically calculating individual player status. 2nd and lower team selections were then restricted in their composition of players with particular status.

Team Composition Rules
At each stage of the season each club will have a number of players with a status (between 0 and 16, depending on how they use them). The club will have to follow these restrictions:
|
Number of ‘1st team’ players allowed |
Number of ‘2nd team’ players allowed |

2nd Team |
Max 2 |

Table 2
Possible extension
With clubs having more teams than when the original status rules were written, it may be desirable to have a 3rd level of status and restrictions on these players. However, there is a need in any club’s lower team to benefit from experienced players. Therefore there is no current proposal to restrict players, especially as in all likelihood a club will have 16 players who have achieved status at any one time (most clubs only have 12 at the moment).
